Soil Sampling and Testing Services

Umpqua Soil and Water Conservation District Offers Free Soil Sampling and Testing Services to Landowners and Producers within the Umpqua SWCD Service Area.

Soil tests provide information about nutrient levels and certain chemical characteristics which are helpful when trying to pinpoint  the nutrient and pH/lime needs of your soil. Knowing the correct amount and type of amendment to add to your soil will help to prevent overapplications which will save money while protecting waterways at the same time.

Umpqua SWCD sends soil samples to an accredited/certified lab for analysis testing for pH, OM, SS, Sikora Buffer, NO3-N, NH4-N, P*, K, Ca, Mg, Na, Total Bases, SO4-S, B, Zn, Mn, Cu, Fe, with a soil evaluation and recommendation provided to us which we provide to you.

Contact the Umpqua Soil & Water Conservation District Office today to schedule your soil test in preparation for fertilizer and lime applications. Lime can take several months after application to break down and change your soil pH.  Lime should never be applied to pastures or gardens that are stressed or dormant, so please keep that in mind.
